Sometimes a person’s life, or more precisely, a person’s character or personality, can be expressed in a phrase. Honest as the day is long. Black sheep of the family. Still waters run deep. These phrases come from literature, politics, poetry, science and that deep, murky pool called popular culture. It’s a shorthand that helps us to express our knowledge of another person.
The work in this show is a selection of phrases that suggested visual realities to me. There are many more... True Blue. Jack of all trades. Team player...but I had to stop somewhere
