dis/appear

Nancy Margolis Gallery

New York, New York
November 18 to December 30, 2004

This whole idea of appearing and disappearing, lost and found, creation and extinction has become a point of view that I carry around with me .“You know,” said my friend, the painter Fred Lynch, “we’re really talking about life and death here.” He’s probably right. But there is also reappearing. And reappearing again and again. There is appearing and persisting, refusing to disappear. Life and death are constantly in a state of flux, one becoming the other.

The work in dis/appear represents random thoughts, meditations and observations about appearing, disappearing, creation, extinction, life, death, loss and old, black and white movies.
